Overview:

ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Business Systems Data Analyst position combines business and data analysis with Power BI report development to support data-driven decision-making. The role involves data modeling, monitoring data quality, and delivering dashboards, visualizations, and reports to provide insights and visibility into critical metrics. This position also manages budget-related reporting, supports operational and commercial activities, and assists with process improvements to enhance efficiency. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential for success in this role. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA.

Pay Rate: $44.49-$63.55

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop business intelligence solutions with tools such as Microsoft SSRS and Power BI.
  • Provide report troubleshooting using tools such as SQL and database analysis.
  • Research and review potential software and or systems; analyze applicability for organizational use and provide recommendations to manager.
  • Utilize industry best practices and principles, methods, and procedures in system integration, integrate data from various systems, and optimize information systems components.
  • Extract, interpret, and disseminate findings from large datasets by employing techniques and theories drawn from the fields of mathematics, statistics, information technology, computer programming, data engineering, pattern recognition, predictive analytics, data science, data architecture, data warehousing, and high-performance computing.
  • Program and refine highly complex, enterprise-level databases to provide efficient, cost effective, and secure data warehouses with integrated automation, governance and standardization.
  • Develop and maintain electronic information portals (dashboards) for wide dissemination of data inside and outside of the org; information portals will facilitate ad-hoc analyses by providing quick, easy access to data and information.
  • Explain and interpret database architecture, data capabilities, and limitations to supervisors, senior management, co-workers, stakeholders, and other interested parties.
  • Utilize reverse engineering techniques on de-normalized, unstructured, and undocumented data from large datasets to recommend and deliver solutions to enterprise-level problems.
  • Verify compliance with all data security requirements and regulations and facilitate the protection of large volumes of data.
  • Identify potential areas where new tools and technologies can be used, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business strategies
  • Use advanced diagnostic analytical and design capabilities to verify that the best solution is recommended to the customer.
  • Work closely with IT groups to coordinate current and future IT plans and activities, including coordination and technical assistance to facilitate specific development projects that involve the computing environment.
  • Review business processes to maintain information/data quality control and quality assurance and provide gap analysis for those processes. Recommend changes in processes and procedures to address any gaps.
  • Draft and maintain performance metrics on the quality of key business information.
  • Review management variance statements to verify they meet the Client Standard for reporting.
  • Provide various reporting/tracking and variance analysis in support of critical data metrics for management.
    • Draft and maintain dashboards and internal reports used by organization managers, VPs and Senior VPs.
    • Aggregate overall data collected; calculate performance measurement and report out.
    • Draft management reporting tools, such as dashboards, PowerPoints, and spreadsheets that document and communicate the progress of financial and risk related activities to verify timely completion.
    • Support managers by providing monthly financial data analysis and other ad-hoc reports, as requested.
  • Analyze the adequacy of existing information tracking systems (emails, documents, dashboards, system reports) by verifying with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that information is accurate. Recommend improvements and solutions to internal system inadequacies as identified.
  • Facilitate report development and data quality control; communicate report failures immediately to managers and analysts.
  • Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Share and disperse documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know). Mark and maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures. Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
  • Perform benchmark research activity to verify processes, policies, and other information are collected and organized.
  • Assist project manager by collecting current state data across the organization and with analysis of the current state findings as needed.
  • Coordinate the collection of the business requirements including business processes, roles and responsibilities, data requirements, and information.
  • Research, analyze, model, and organize information for developing requirements.
  • Conduct user, stakeholder, and sponsor interviews and facilitate workshops to elicit business requirements.
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, deconstruct high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Prepare key project deliverable documents including requirements, process diagrams, system designs, workflow maps, project plans, change management plans, and user plans.
  • Assist with QA activities such as testing and validating data including portfolio management reports. This may include proofreading and correcting instructional material in the use of those system interfaces.
  • Document business requirements for identified report users.
  • Identify gaps and suggest improvements and solutions to internal process and activity inefficiencies.
  • Analyze evidence provided to validate client's compliance with requirements, document the results of that analysis, present findings, and support the development of corrective action plans to resolve gaps between current practice and required compliance mandates as necessary.
  • Recommend priorities and prepare final documentation on assigned processes for management approval.
  • Provide background information, technical input, solution options and weighted recommendations that facilitate decision making and that will enable key requirements of the subject initiative and/or other projects to be met. This may include arranging, attending, and facilitating decision-making sessions/meetings with management, executives, and key stakeholders, including drafting agendas, answering technical questions, and presenting information, options, and recommendations for decision-makers' consideration.
  • Support the identification of organizational alignment and culture change required to advance improvement efforts towards the overall objectives in the Asset Management program plan.
  • Provide first line technical support to business users of the developed reports, processes and other solutions.
  • Prepare, draft, and recommend changes and updates to user manuals, onboarding, and training documentation.
  • Analyze solutions and business practices for efficiency and effectiveness. Based on the analyses, initiate continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Information Technology/Systems, Technology Management, Information Management, Engineering, Business Systems, Computer Science or Technology (or related field) is preferred.
    • 8 years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree.
    • 10 years of experience is required with an applicable associate degree.
    • 12 years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
  • Experience should be consistent with the specific requirements of business systems analysis and progressively more technical in nature.
  • Experience should include business/process analysis, re-engineering, and optimization in relation to implementing IT systems, Business processes, or Operations Management.
  • Experience should also include practical use of modeling languages, technical product life cycle concepts, and requirements engineering,
  • 8 years of experience in the following:
    • Generating reports from various data repositories.
    • Utilizing MS Access database design and administration.
    • Utilizing Excel, including pivot tables, charting and reporting
    • SSRS and/or SQL.
  • 5 years of experience in the following:
    • Utilizing Visio and/or other flowchart tools.
    • Automating with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • 1 year of experience using Power BI, including ability to write Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
  • Proficient with Power Query Language (M).
  • Technical writing skills sufficient to present information in various forms such as textual, graphical and statistical.
  • Technical interviewing skills sufficient to:
    • Interview in the business environment.
    • Elicit and define requirements.
    • Facilitate groups through process design and requirements gathering sessions.
  • 4 years of experience in project management and leadership.
  • 4 years of experience in business process development.
  • Must possess the skills, knowledge and ability to:
    • Utilize methods that scale to big data sets and that are applicable to enterprise data warehouses.
    • Understand large and complex source systems and data sets; able to integrate varying viewpoints and perspectives into analysis and interpretation.
  • Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); make clear and convincing oral presentations; listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
