Business Performance Analyst
The MGB Ambulatory Capacity Management (ACM) department supports strategic operations of Mass General Brigham and its hospital and physician groups to manage and optimize provider schedules with the goal of helping ambulatory departments achieve access and scheduling goals. The ACM department's primary responsibilities include managing and optimizing provider templates, consulting with practices to design and build effective Epic decision tree and other scheduling build, and to analyze demand and capacity data to create actionable recommendations for improvement.
Reporting to the Enterprise Director of Ambulatory Capacity Management, the Business Data Analyst is responsible for ongoing advancement and distribution of a portfolio of Capacity Management dashboards and reports. In collaboration with the Ambulatory Capacity Management leadership team, the incumbent will be responsible for development and oversight of all ambulatory demand, capacity management and scheduling workflow related measurement and reporting structures. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to analyzing enterprise-wide capacity and access data to identity trends, areas for intervention and best practice and identification of Epic build calibration or process related adjustments required to achieve key capacity utilization and ambulatory access goals. Specifically, the core responsibility is to identify solutions that effectively leverage Epic Cadence, Ambulatory and other scheduling functionality and improve patient access to care through a deep understanding of demand and capacity data and analytics. This position will work closely with Ambulatory Operations, Enterprise Analytics, ACM Partnership Management team, Ambulatory Care Transformation leadership, and constituents involved in Enterprise Assessment Management efforts across MGB.
This position requires strong skill and ability in applying critical thinking to challenging business problems. In addition, strong project management skills are needed with demonstrated experience working on large, complex projects and the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects. Excellent and independent judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization are needed. Also required are exceptional organizational skills, including effectively developing work plans, meeting deadlines and managing projects and teams within a fast-paced, changing environment. The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively to produce consistent, high-quality deliverables.
Access/Business Analytics - 65%
In collaboration with the Enterprise Director for Capacity Management, plan and implement new demand, capacity and access analytics and data sets, including development of dashboards and reports for use by client departments, ambulatory leadership and hospital senior leadership.
Serve as a subject matter expert on capacity and demand analytics to support both leadership and staff within Ambulatory Capacity Management, Ambulatory Operations and Services and across the enterprise as directed.
Manage report distribution and priorities in partnership with department leadership, monitor use of reports, overall impact to operations and reaching target outcomes, and recommend adjustments or retirement of dashboard and reporting collateral as needed to maintain an efficient and effective portfolio.
In partnership with ambulatory leaders, assess new data requests for impact, scalability and resource requirements. Develop recommendations to bring to Ambulatory Leadership and follow through on execution of development of new dashboards and reports as required.
Engages in the hospital community at large and finds forums and opportunities to increase awareness of ambulatory capacity management expertise, unique value, and priorities that underscore the impact of the demand and capacity reporting portfolio assigned. As needed, leads and/or participates on committees across the MGB enterprise.
Participate in projects, meetings and other responsibilities as assigned.
Participate in interviewing, onboarding and orientation for new staff members.
Participate in team-building activities to promote high performance among colleagues.
Project Management - 35%
Responsible for planning and scoping several inter-related initiatives and helping senior-level business stakeholders make informed decisions about which initiatives to tackle and how to tackle them.
Develop recommendations for operational performance and improvement projects related to patient access, scheduling template optimization, and other access operations-focused initiatives.
Collaborate with Ambulatory, Data/Analytics and EAM leadership across MGB to advance patient access goals and related dashboard and reporting project implementations.
Manage communication plan to keep stakeholders apprised of progress and challenges, including development of presentations to create stories around business issues and recommended interventions.
Develop, communicate, and hold assigned project staff accountable for project timelines, key performance indicators, and project deliverables.
Implement assigned staffing needs for each project to execute and meet project deliverables; submit proposals to department leadership for review and approval
