Responsibilities
- Perform cell-line based viral neutralization assays, analyze data from assays and create data reports in a timely manner.
- Track reagents in database, prepare viral stocks, maintain cell cultures and present data.
- Handle blood samples from HIV-infected humans; small animals; and non-human primates such as rhesus monkeys at biosafety level 2-with-3 practices.
- Ship samples to collaborators, including biohazards and international shipping.
- Follow good lab practices, including but not limited to:
- Follow safety regulations for chemicals and biohazards.
- Regularly take out waste and call the chemical safety office for chemical waste pickup.
- Receive and restock supplies.
- May include other cell culture and molecular biology techniques, at the discretion of the Task Leader, including but not limited to:
- Antibody expression and purification.
- PCR.
- Plasmid preparation.
- Sequence analysis.
- Gel electrophoresis.
- ELISA assays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a biological science field is required.
- Minimum of 2 -3 years of direct experience in laboratory-based research is required.
- Experience performing and analyzing cell-line based viral neutralization assays.
- Experience handling blood samples.
- Experience in molecular biology techniques (PCR, ELISA, antibody expression and purification, etc.).
