Responsibilities
- Perform computational analysis of a range of high-dimensional datasets, including the following:
- Short-read next-generation sequencing data, including Illumina data.
- Long-read next-generation sequencing data, including Pacific Biosciences and Oxford Nanopore data.
- Upstream analysis steps including sequence quality control and determination of initial processed sequencing.
- Downstream analysis steps including gene expression analysis and differential expression, single-cell analysis, T cell receptor sequence analysis, and virus sequence analysis.
- Develop new next-generation sequence (NGS) data analysis pipelines for existing projects and newly arising projects.
- Prepare NGS analysis results for presentation at lab meetings, scientific conferences, and publication.
- Prepare manuscripts describing novel research findings.
- Provide Mentorship and teaching of bioinformatics for lab trainees and other scientists at Vaccine Research Center.
- Maintain records of NGS experiments analyzed, facilitating re-analysis of previous experiments where necessary.
- Work with laboratory staff on experimental interpretation and design of new experiments.
- Provide statistical support/analysis on research data.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in bioinformatics or other biomedical research discipline is required.
- Four (4) years of post-Ph.D. experience working on bioinformatics is required.
- Track record of two (2) or more first-author research publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Track record of high-impact publications related to HIV and SARS-CoV-2.
- Extensive computational coding experience in Python and R.
- Experience analyzing and publishing data generated using Focused Interrogation of cells using Nucleic acid Detection and sequencing.
