Position Title: Associate Scientist I

Location: South Plainfield, NJ

Shift: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

With your molecular background, you will be able to utilize not only your existing skills, but will also learn many new techniques, creating attractive new growth opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare amplified template libraries for high-throughput sequencing
  • Carry out DNA sequencing on next-generation DNA analyzers
  • Perform routine maintenance of DNA analyzers and related equipment
  • Check inventory and replenish consumable sequencing supplies
  • Communicate with customers by phone and e-mail in a friendly and professional manner
  • Sample quality and quantity check using various methods and equipment
  • DNA and RNA extraction from cell pellets and tissues
  • Proper operation and routine maintenance of MiSeq, monitor run performance
What You Will Bring
  • BS in Biological Sciences or equivalent required.
  • Some laboratory benchwork experience required
  • Understanding of Molecular Biology principles and technologies
  • Experience in a Next Generation Sequencing lab preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced customer-oriented environment.
  • Highly motivated and well organized.
  • Independent, detailed oriented, team player.
  • Closely follow Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to react to situations with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation and record keeping skills
