Required:Bachelor's Degree. Previous athletic communications/athletic media relations experience. Standard office machines; computer skills.
Preferred:Master's Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, sports management or related field. Possess a working knowledge of StatCrew and NCAA Genius statistical software; have strong oral and writing skills in addition to a thorough knowledge of college athletics. Knowledge in layout and design using Adobe Creative Suite or a similar program and two years of experience as a sports information/media relations assistant is preferred. The ability to use Microsoft Office Suites(Work, Excel, etc.), NCAA Live Stats, and StatCrew software are a plus.
Primary Responsibilities:The successful applicant will work closely with the Director of Sports Information in covering all 12 of the SRSU's sports. In this role, the successful applicant will be serving as the liaison between the media, student -athletes and coaches.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, website maintenance; writing and dissemination of press releases and feature stories; layout and design of assigned game notes and game day programs using Adobe Creative Suite; assist with day-to-day operations of the sports information office for home events; travel to select events if required; collect and maintain statistical information; update and maintain sports social media accounts; and other duties as assigned.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. This position is security sensitive. Maintain and monitor a compliant environment that results in clear institutional control of all athletic programs relative to Lone Star Conference and NCAA legislation as required by NCAA Division II membership. Additionally, all athletic personnel are required to self-report any rules violations that have either been direct violations or observed.
Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers. Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Big Bend National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are all within one to three hours driving distance from Alpine.
The SRSU campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde comprise Rio Grande College. RGC offers upper-level courses leading to bachelor's degrees as well as master's degree programs and works closely with its partner institution, Southwest Texas Junior College, to provide a seamless transition to RGC for their students. All RGC students hold an Associate degree from an accredited institution or they have completed 42 semester credit hours of transferrable work.
