Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Sam Houston State University Seeks applications for a tenure-track position, Assistant Professor of Statistics (Data Science), to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. This position carries a teaching load of 9 credit hours per semester. The duties of this position include the following: Delivers high-quality instruction in Data Science and Statistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Provides guidance and support to students through mentoring and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Conducts impactful research in the fields of Data Science and Statistics; contributing to the advance of knowledge in those areas. Demonstrates a commitment to curriculum development. Engages in service activities.

Educational Requirements for the Position:

Ph.D. in Data Science (preferred) or Statistics, by the time of appointment

Experience Required for the Position:

A successful candidate will have a strong commitment to quality teaching and an active research agenda.

Other Requirements for the Position:

Candidates must have excellent communication skills, passion for quality teaching and research in Data Science. Candidates must be proficient in statistical software such as R, Python, SAS, and SQL.
