Vertiv is hiring an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Director in Westerville, OH who will be responsible for overseeing and successfully planning, developing, administering, and executing Manufacturing initiatives as they apply to manufacturing sites. This requires identifying manufacturing needs, defining scope, estimating manpower, technology, and capital resources, and measuring and reporting progress and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Successful planning, development, administration, and execution of specific Advanced Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Establishing implementation teams to drive technology-driven breakthrough performance.
  • Determining the specific needs and objectives of each initiative. This includes determining how they relate to the Americas strategic plan.
  • Project management and administration, including project direction and implementation. Responsible for project cost-benefit analysis, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Driving improvements in factory lead time reduction, footprint utilization/optimization, and productivity/efficiency improvements.
  • Communications related to the initiatives. This includes the development of format, frequency, material, and audience.
  • Partner and consult with key Regional Business leaders, Functional leaders, plant managers, and their leadership teams to shape regional strategy, develop plans, and execute performance improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and coach leaders to integrate operations and functions end to end and drive improvement to reduce lead time, improve customer service levels, lower total operating costs, and increase cash flow.
  • Oversee all cross-plant manufacturing processes for capabilities to establish and instigate best practices, including manufacturing-related documentation such as work instructions, drawings, and BOMs.
  • Create standardized work for leaders throughout operations to drive a daily cadence of problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Systematic and thorough documentation of all continuous improvement operations projects, including policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Working with the executive team and leaders throughout the organization to identify, prioritize, plan, and deploy resources to continuous improvement efforts across the Americas business while ensuring alignment with the overall Vertiv strategic plan.
  • Provide total landed cost analyses for products impacted by transfer, source change, or new product development.
  • Standardize plant performance measures for a consistent review of manufacturing operations.
  • Research and lead new manufacturing practices across plants to maintain a competitive manufacturing environment.
  • Interface with multiple stakeholders to ensure quality, production and inventory controls are sufficient and aligned.
  • Drive changes to procedures, policies, processes, and equipment to improve the manufacturing functions.
  • Establish budgets and provide control for capital and expense spending.
  • Other job duties as instructed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Knowledge of SIOP and production scheduling dynamics
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Extensive knowledge of formalized Advanced and Lean Manufacturing applications.
  • Excellent communication and people relations and motivation skills.
  • Ability to develop solid working relationships between corporate and division executives and department heads.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively; ability to coach, train, facilitate and lead teams effectively in a transformational work environment.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills; strong project management and leadership skills; analytical skills; PC skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through team efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an industrial, high mix job shop environment
  • An excellent understanding of our manufacturing operations, supply chain management and appropriate Vertiv products
  • Bilingual
  • MBA or related advanced degree
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree Industrial Management, Engineering or related degree.
  • Minimum 7-10 years manufacturing operations experience
  • Prefer a minimum 5-years manufacturing engineering and lean implementation experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • No Special Physical Requirements
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors)
TRAVEL TIME REQUIRED
  • Up to 25%
