Buena Vista University is seeking an Academic Advisor to lead the efforts to recruit and retain students in the Ottumwa region working directly with the Director of Enrollment & Student Success for Online Programs. The recruitment responsibilities of this position are to develop new leads, maintain a recruitment territory, promote BVU in the community, attend events, host classroom visits, and build strong relationships with prospective students through extensive outreach. The student success responsibilities of this position are to advise and support assigned students from the point of inquiry through graduation. Bachelor's degree required with 2 years of excellence in student service and higher education desired. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, collaboration, attention to detail, and a desire to provide excellent service to all stakeholders. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to establish and achieve priorities in a fast-paced environment and ability to develop and maintain positive and effective professional relationships. This position will be in Ottumwa at the BVU office on the Indian Hills Community College campus. Normal office hours are Monday-Friday and occasional evenings and weekends as needed. A valid driver's license is required.
